THE PERFECT 10

India Vs Pakistan 2nd Test Match : 7th of February, 1999 - Ferozshah Kotla Ground, New Delhi

Ferozshah Kotla, the site of many a historical event, was host to a battle totally different, yet equally ferocious and significant. In an atmosphere charged with emotions, two nations, two neighbours and perpetual rivals battled it out for supremacy in the game that has enthralled millions. Cricket.
On the 7th of February, 1999, a lone man took Ferozshah Kotla into the history books. It was the day when one man army plundered the mighty opposition.
The second test match between India and Pakistan which went first one way and then the other had a lot in store. With the visitors in a strong position and the game seemingly out of grasp, it took all the skill and heroism of a lone warrior to win back the match. Whipping up a whirlwind, Anil Kumble single-handedly demolished the batting line-up.
His spell of 10 wickets for 74 runs has gone down as the second best bowling figures ever in cricketing history according to the new Wisden 100 rating. Equaling Jim Laker's 10 wicket haul of 42 years was no mean task, but Kumble did it with the lan and grace of true fighter. A warrior to the hilt, he gave the game achievement that will never be forgotten.
